About this editor

Remove Background Online is a small photo editor for one job: taking the subject out of a picture and giving it a better setting. It is free to use, needs no account and puts no watermark on the result.

How it works

The cut-out is made by an image segmentation model on our server. Everything after that happens in your browser tab: the backdrop, the shadow, the brush, the frame and the final file. The green-screen key skips the server altogether.

Why it is free

The editor costs little to run because most of the work is done on your device. We may show unobtrusive ads in the future to cover the server; the editor itself will stay free.
